Are You Ready for Your Close Up?

I'm not sure how to poetically explain this post.  Suffice it to say that a bunch of awesome and fun women photographers got together with some great hair and makeup artists in an amazing church turned photography studio and played!  We piled in waaaay too many clothes and accessories and put our photography skills and posing to the test.  We did our best to channel the amazing Sue Bryce.  We had her posing guide being passed around on the iPad, and her CreativeLive episodes projecting in the background.  Let me just say: I love this stuff!  This is a great way to feel gorgeous.  And yes, we all got in front of the camera ourselves, so we now know how our clients feel when we contort them in to those poses.  That doesn't mean we're going to stop - we just know how it feels :).  Check out a few of the behind the scenes images as well as some of my favorite portraits I captured during the day.  (Be sure to scroll all the way down).  If you're ready for YOUR close up, please contact me for a complete glamour session.

Serendipity

Sometimes the Universe conspires, through a series of seemingly random events, to put you in the path of awesome people.  After putting a call out for dancers for a shoot earlier, which you can view here, I met the Blevins family.  I worked with Angela, mom, when she needed some headshots for work and she also wanted to purchase some of the earlier dance images.  She contacted me again in November to photograph her whole family as she begins to organize her house for the holidays and for her oldest's graduation open house this spring.  They are a great family and I had a great time photographing all of them.  I hope you enjoy these images.

Sydney {Avon Class of 2013} Senior Portraits

You have probably seen Sydney grace the pages of my blog, website and Facebook several times in recent years.  Sydney is a very gifted dancer and we have had several opportunities to work together through dance or photography.  She and her mom were excited to shoot her senior portraits.  I was excited to have them as some of my first clients in my new studio downtown.  I hope you all love Sydney's photos.  We had a great time shooting them.  We eeked out the very last bits of October sunlight outside with the final shots of this series.  Enjoy!

The Colclasures {Avon, Indiana Newborn and Family Photography}

The birth of a new baby is always a special event for any family, but for some families the journey takes a bit longer.  Baby Sheila took her sweet time presenting herself to her parents and big brother, and they are so glad she is here.  Please enjoy the images from their session a few weeks ago.  Such a sweetie!!

A Few of My Favorite Things

I thought I'd offer something a little different in this post.  I love how music has a way of transcending time and taking you back to a different time, place, and feeling.  I can't help but feel good when I hear these songs. Below are some of my favorite go to songs to pick me up or that I love belting in the house when no one is around.  Just thought I'd share in case you needed a pick me up! It's always a little scary to find some of your all-time favorites on the "retro" station.  Have I really gotten that old?  Feel free to supply me with your go-to pick me up songs!

I hope you all are planning a wonderful and relaxing weekend despite the expected rain.  Below is a post that I have been so eager to get online!  I recently had the pleasure of photographing 3 beautiful young women and gifted dancers.  They helped me christen my new studio as the first shoot.  I was challenging myself to capture motion and great shapes all while working with off camera flash.  I will just allow the images to speak for themselves.
