Indy Fringe {2013 Indy Fringe Festival}

As I am writing this, it is currently raining ice from the sky.  But let's not think about that, let's remember when it was warm and we were able to walk around Mass Ave. Indianapolis in shorts and tank tops!  The 2013 Indy Fringe festival was a fabulous and eclectic mix of the region's most interesting and passionate artists.  From dancers to singers, to performance artists to actors or magicians and many more, the streets and theaters were filled with performances for 2 weeks straight.  Here are a few of the images I captured as part of the Festival's media coverage! Late summer/Fall starts my busy season, which is why I'm just now able to get these online.  If you want to know more about the artists featured in this slideshow please visit:

Abby & Nate {Indianapolis Engagement Photography}

Love is in the air.  I love the challenge of getting couples to open up and show their true emotion toward one another in front of the camera.  Abby and Nate were a blast to work with and I think we really captured their personalities.  Downtown Indianapolis was a particularly important setting for these images as the couple now calls Indy home.  I love the colors in these images.  Best of luck to them as they plan their wedding this June!  Congratulations!!

Riley Hospital For Children {Remember Me Now}

One of the greatest things I think I can do as a human being is give.  I want to always be in a position to have enough to give to other people, and share and invest in their lives.  In 2013 I was asked to join a very special program at Riley Hospital for Children called "Remember Me Now".  This is a program funded through the Riley Children's Foundation and Women for Riley.  This program provides professional photography for critically or terminally ill children and their families free of charge.  The sessions take place in a child's hospital room.  I usually have to suit up for isolation precautions.  Many of these families have lived at the hospital or the Ronald Mcdonald house for weeks if not months while their child fights for their life.  I have had the distinct honor of giving some of these families their first, and for others, their last, family portraits.  I have not posted sooner because of the acuteness of what these families have gone through.  I feel that enough time has passed to respectfully celebrate these awesome children and parents in these images.  I also want to shine the light on the great program at Riley.  I hope that "Remember Me Now" can continue to be funded through the foundation grants.

You can find more information on Remember Me Now at the Riley Children's Foundation.
Please leave some encouragement for these families in the comments below.

Chad & Liam {Indianapolis Engagement}

Back in March I received a message from friends of mine, Chad and Liam, that they would like me to take the pictures at their wedding reception in June.   I was very happy that they chose me, and can't wait for their event in June.  The couple will be married in New York City and return to Indianapolis for their reception with friends and family the following week.  We met last week and took engagement photos on the Canal near the Indianapolis State Museum.  Enjoy the following images of Chad and Liam, and stay tuned for their wedding in June!

Natasha {Avon Class of 2012 Senior}

Imagine preparing for your high school graduation, exploring what college to attend, planning for prom and finishing up those final high school credits.  Now imagine doing that in a new town, a new state, completely different from where you grew up.  Natasha has done just that.  She moved to Indiana to start her junior year of high school.  She has adjusted very well and made great new friends on the dance team and through out Avon.  I was so excited to shoot her senior photos.  She wanted to make sure that we included some shots of the Indianapolis skyline, and some in her dance tutu.  I was happy to oblige.  We met about a month before her session to plan what to wear and where to shoot.  We settled on some park space near Avon, as well as the White River State Park downtown.  Congratulations Natasha on your upcoming graduation!  Here are just a few of her gorgeous shots to celebrate the class of 2012!!

"Have a Super Day!"

This week I live in one of the most exciting places on earth.  Super Bowl XLVI is being hosted by Indianapolis, and I was lucky enough to have a great opportunity to experience the festivities for over 12 hours on Friday. I'm very proud to say that I live in what may prove to be the best Super Bowl host cities ever.  My grandmother even helped knit those blue and while scarves worn by the host committee!  My husband produces the Smiley Morning Show and they were broadcasting live from downtown on Friday.  I woke up with him at 4am and headed downtown.  It was awesome to wander the city and actually find some amount of solitude in this busy football mecca.  I was one of the only people on the circle.  I grabbed some shots of the crowds awaiting the Today Show taping, street performers in the Super Bowl Village, and of course the behind the scenes look of the Smiley Morning Show remote.  Keep your eyes out for Al Roker and Jenna Wolfe from the Today Show, as well as Mayor Greg Ballard.  If you haven't had a chance to check out the city, you should try to get down there!  I highly recommend checking it out before dawn, although time is running out.  If you're not willing to brave the craziness in Indy,  I hope these photos make you feel like you were there!!
