McKinley Cotton Tail: 4 months

If this little guy looks familiar, it's because baby McKinley previously graced the pages of this blog last Christmas.  Once again, Jen and Richard have allowed me to photograph their family and their precious little guy.  This week it was McKinley's 4 month as well as Easter session.  Mom is very proud of his two Easter bunny outfits.  McKinley was the perfect model - even though he's still not sure about his costumes.  Happy Spring, and Happy Easter!!

 

 

 

 

 

Danielle & Bryce: Engagement

OK, I have to stop editing or I will give away too much in this post!
Today I met with Danielle and Bryce to plan their engagement and wedding photography.  We started the day discussing their upcoming July wedding and we finished by shooting their engagement session.  The weather was not wanting to cooperate, and Danielle was only in town for an extended weekend, so we had to make it work.  After about 3 other plans we settled on a local shoot in Zionsville.  Luckily the weather held out for us, despite the cold, and we were able to have a great time in downtown Zionsville - where Bryce is from.  I have to say, that this ended up as the perfect location for these two.  They were so open and willing to be creative, and sneak in little alleyways off the beaten path.  Thank you guys so much for trusting me.  I can't wait for your summer wedding.   I hope you enjoy your sneak peeks!  I had so much fun working with you.

Ring, Ring!!

A Sweet Country Wedding

    The snow was coming down heavily on the wedding morning as Daisy and Brad arrived to the church to get ready for the ceremony.  Daisy was slowly becoming more nervous and excited than she anticipated.  Their two little boys ran around the sanctuary in a frenzy of excited energy.  She carried a bouquet of bells of Ireland, gerberas, and winter thistle.  Brad waited eagerly as Daisy made her way down the aisle with her father and son.  The two exchanged classic rings of silver and gold.  Just as the pastor announced them husband and wife, the clouds parted and the sun shined down on the newly fallen snow.
     I heard it described as a sweet country wedding.  The quaint chapel was the perfect size for the intimate wedding.  The whole family participated in bringing the wedding to life.  Daisy and Brad were both holding back tears as they opened cards from their parents afterward.  The focus of the day was family and joining together two families who care very much for one another.  In fact, their wedding photography was a gift from family.  Carrie was frantically looking for a photographer after the one who was previously booked became unavailable.  Through a series of events, she found me, and luckily I was available, and excited to shoot the event!
   I had less than 24 hours notice to plan for the wedding, but was glad that I could help out in a "pickle," as Carrie said.   Brad and Daisy, I hope that you and your families are happy with the photographs from the day.  I thoroughly enjoyed my day with you.  I wish you all the happiness and joy in the world as you begin your married life together.  Please enjoy the following sneak peeks.

To Dance is to be Free!

I am so amazingly blessed to be able to participate in the Arts community in Avon and in Indianapolis.  More than anything else, I am proud to be able to call myself a dancer, after years of devoting myself to the practice, study, rehearsal, performance, choreography, and instruction of it.  I am grateful to have the dance and artistic background which I believe is helping me in my photographic career.  After receiving my bachelors degree in dance at Ball State, I went on to coach the Avon Gold Dance Team.  It was a task that I thought would just be a way to stay involved in dance, as I moved on to grad school.  I have always been drawn to dance, and anyone who is a dancer understands what I am talking about.  I can't help but be moved by it.  The movement and emotion found in dance is like nothing else.  I feel very honored to have been allowed to continue to assist with the dance team and support the ever advancing dance department at Avon High School.  Yesterday I photographed the Winter dance recital.  I hope some of these sneak peeks let you feel the emotion of the night as well.  It was AWESOME!  If you are a participant in this recital, the link to the full gallery HERE

Hinshaw Family, Baby's First Christmas

Christmas is most people's favorite time of year.  It is a great time to be a child or at least feel like a child for a little while.  What a special time for a growing family.  Baby McKinley and his parents, Jennifer and Richard will have their first Christmas together this year.  This is definitely something to remember and record for the future.  They met with me at Avon United Methodist Church to take some family photos for the holidays.  Mr. McKinley is usually a very calm happy baby, although he had to voice his concerns over the dress clothes he was wearing.  He, of course, looked very handsome.  Richard, among other things, works for the Avon High School band program.  Jennifer heads the dance department at Avon as well, and that is how I met her.  I have a hunch that McKinley will catch the artistic bug in years to come.  I hope they enjoy their holiday together.  I also hope they enjoy these photo sneak peeks!
